Common Mistakes That Kill Shrimp Mid-Cycle
Overdosing Bacteria Products
More is not better with bottled bacteria. Dumping twice the recommended dose of Stability doesn’t double the colonization speed — it mostly just depletes oxygen as the bacteria consume it. Shrimp need well-oxygenated water, especially when they’re stressed. Run an airstone or make sure your filter return is creating surface agitation throughout the cycle.
Large Water Changes That Crash pH
Tap water in many areas is buffered to pH 7.8–8.2.
